What is CAMFT ?

The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) is an independent statewide professional organization representing the interests of California’s licensed and soon to be licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. It is dedicated to:

• Advancing the profession as an art and a science

• Upgrading the qualifications for the profession

• Maintaining high standards of professional ethics

• Expanding the recognition and awareness of the profession

CAMFT takes pride in its many achievements that advance the profession and is dedicated to preserving the mental health needs of California’s individuals and families.

What is San Diego CAMFT ?

San Diego CAMFT is one of the twenty-nine chartered chapters of CAMFT. SD CAMFT serves the interests of Marriage and Family Therapists in the various geographical areas of San Diego. SD CAMFT has interests similar to CAMFT, yet we are an autonomous entity. Participation in our chapter provides an opportunity for therapists to share experiences and expertise with similar professionals.

The Board of Behavioral Sciences is responsible for consumer protection through the regulation of Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT); Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW); Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP); MFT Interns; and Associate Clinical Social Workers (ASW) in the State of California. It is one of the boards within the California Department of Consumer Affairs. www.bbs.ca.gov

We are looking for new SD CAMFT Board Members!  Your minimum commitment is 1 meeting per month and the qualifications are a sense of humor, an open mind and flexibility. It is an excellent way to network with other professionals in the community and effect the visibility of the profession.
