Trauma-Informed Mindfulness:

A UNIQUE and Rare training opportunity!

SPECIAL NOTE: San Diego CAMFT chapter members who attend will receive a FREE attendance at one of our 1 or 3 hour CEU events!*

Utilizing a robust trauma-informed framework, this training will delineate a method of delivering mindfulness meditations, mindfulness practices and mindfulness-based interventions in a way that is healing rather than re-traumatizing, triggering, or otherwise injuring to persons with trauma histories or PTSD.

Persons with trauma histories, traumatic stress symptoms, or full PTSD are likely to populate our psychotherapy practices and MBP groups. They experience a number of challenges to developing mindfulness skills stemming from the primary effect of trauma on the brain, namely chronic and easily triggered fight/flight/freeze reactivity. Yet there is also growing research evidence and clinical experience revealing that trauma survivors can master, benefit from, and even experience transformative recovery using a trauma-informed mindfulness-based approach. This focused and experientially engaging program is intended for professionals who wish to heighten their awareness of and ability to meet the needs of these clients and participants while engaging them in mindfulness exercises, mindfulness practices and mindfulness-based interventions.
The guidelines and principals shared will be relevant for work both with individuals, couples and groups whether for the general public or to trauma-specific populations. The training will cover the entire process of a mindfulness approach including screening, delivery, integration, and referral.
